Jaden came down with a fever Friday night and kept it all day Saturday. He just acted like he felt terrible and we were so worried that an infection was brewing up...So instead of our planned evening out together to go see the Louisville Orchestra's Christmas Spectacular, we spent the night in the ER at Kosair and was finally admitted around 2:30ish early Sunday morning...After several blood tests and Chest X-Rays, the doctors found that Jaden has a pleural effusion on his right lung...this is an accumulation of fluid between the layers of tissue that line the lungs and chest cavity. Symptoms: Chest pain, usually a sharp pain that is worse with cough or deep breaths ....this is a sign that either his heart is acting up or he had some fluid build up from where he laid on his right side during his brain surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago...They let us go home late Sunday Night and our pediatrician called us today (Monday) with the results from all his blood cultures...all of them came back normal except for one and it won't be ready for 3 more days, in the meantime we will go see his Heart Team Thursday at noon to get a new chest x-ray and make sure the fluid is clearing up if not they will let us know what to expect in the up-coming weeks...worse case scenario is that he would have to be admitted and a chest tube placed to help relieve the fluid that's built up and the best case scenario is that his body will naturally resolve it...It's always something...We are praying that the fever was from something Viral or from him cutting teeth...He just got two big chompers in the back on the bottom...Please continue to pray for us and that this fluid will resolve on it's own...We will post more after his tests on Thursday...
