Pre-School requires a Hearing Screen so 3 weeks ago we took Jaden in for his 1st Hearing Screen since the one he had when he was in the NIC-U.........Needless to say, he didn't like it and had no part in listening to the nice lady make funny sounds in the sound-proof booth...........James and I tried everything we could to calm him down and to just get him to sit there and listen, that's all he had to do was listen.....So the nice lady had no choice but to fail him and re-schedule us for another visit......which was today.......Our 2nd Attempt at it.........We scheduled this visit earlier in the day 3oclock's nap time and we believe that's why Jaden didn't do so good last visit.....He was just tired.......Since our appointment was at 10am, James couldn't take off early so I asked Papaw Henry if he wanted to tag along.......Jaden loves him so much and I knew he could help me keep him calm during the testing..........His job allows him to be off all winter and knew he would love to go with us.......Papaw and Jaden waited in the car while I went to sign Jaden in for his test.......I shared with the hearing specialist that when she was ready for him I would go out and get them that way we could just bring him straight back and he didn't have to sit in a strange place and get scared before we even got started.......that happened the last visit too, so that's why I left them in the car till they were all ready for him......She called him back so I went out and got them......we went straight back to the Special Room and Sound-Proof Booth.........Jaden was a little scared when the lady was looking in his ears but Papaw was able to keep him occupied and he calmed down quickly.........she then started the test and Jaden responded to the sounds she was making by giggling at her.........she said that was her way knowing that he could hear was from his smile and giggles.........she also stuck another little device into his ear that played little baby birds singing and chirping......somehow that device checked the movement of Jaden's eardrum.........He just listened real closely and never cried at all........Praise the Lord she passed him for his Hearing Screen.............she mentioned that both eardrums responded to the device but it was a slow movement and that maybe Jaden could have a little fluid in both ears...........we are gonna come back in 3 months to re-check him a 3rd time..........but the best part about all of this is that the BLESSING of knowing that our Son can hear us..........we knew he could hear before the test but for them to re-remind us that Jaden can hear, in itself is a HUGE BLESSING........I can recall the day just like it was yesterday.......Jaden was just only 4 days old..........the whole team of Doctors that surrounded us in a private little room.........they were discussing with us the Grade 4 brain Hemorrhage..........at the time we had no idea what a Grade 4 brain hemorrhage was but we learned rather quickly the blood that surrounded our sweet baby boys brain was enough to make him die......He was 4 days post-op from his 1st Open heart and then this........His doctors DID NOT expect him to live..........The chaplain was there to comfort us..........at the time we never knew what that private room was for..........but after him having 17 surgeries and that hospital becoming our second home we learned that, "That Room" was the room they would and still do take families into to share the news with them about their child and that they're not gonna make it.........We have seen countless families come in and out of "That Room" and have heard the weeping and horrific screams that follow........I know we know beyond a shadow of doubt that the Lord spared our baby and through His MIRACULOUS POWERS, MERCY, and GRACE healed our son...........One of the issues mentioned was deafness..........Our son can hear and we give ALL GLORY, HONOR, and PRAISE to GOD!!!!!!
Wow Kacey, that is amazing. We are rejoicing his hearing right along with you!
